Riverside Adds Partner Promotes Two

Riverside Adds Partner, Promotes Two September 08, 2016

Investment Firm Continues Growing

The Riverside Company has deepened its global transacting team with the addition of Partner Hunter Peterson and the promotions of Meranee Phing and Nick Speer to Partner.

Peterson comes to Riverside after 10 years with Trinity Hunt Partners, a Dallas-based private equity firm. He has more than 20 years of experience in finance, including with TA Associates, Blue Sage Capital, William Blair & Company and Heller Financial. Peterson has deep experience as a generalist investor, and extensive private equity expertise, with a proven track record of sourcing, executing and managing investments. He will work out of Riverside’s Dallas office.

“We’re delighted to have Hunter on board,” said Riverside Co-CEO Béla Szigethy. “It’s exceedingly difficult to attract Partner-level talent in this industry, let alone someone with a strong track record who shares our aggressive growth goals and core corporate values. He makes an incredible addition to our strong global team.”

With 86 platforms, a global reach and a much busier transaction calendar, Riverside offers a lot of opportunity, Peterson said.

“I’m excited to have found a home in Riverside,” he said. “The firm is very active and has earned a solid reputation in the industry. I’m happy to join their talented team as we find ways to make companies bigger and better.”

The addition of Peterson and the promotions of Phing and Speer earlier this year have bolstered the global team of more than 20 transacting partners at the firm.

Phing has been with Riverside since 2005 and works from the San Francisco office. She has worked on many successful transactions at the firm, including Baby Jogger, The Dwyer Group and Momentum Group. She also leads Riverside’s Consumer Brands industry specialization globally. Prior to Riverside, Phing held positions at DB Capital Partners, Deutsche Bank’s private equity arm, and The Robinson Humphrey Company.

Speer joined Riverside in Melbourne in 2014, coming to the firm with finance experience at Greenhill Caliburn and Catalyst Investment Managers. Speer has worked on a number of deals in his time at Riverside, including Work Health Group and Learning Seat.

“It’s great to get the fresh perspective of new people, but it also gives me a special thrill to reward longtime employees who’ve served us well,” said Riverside Co-CEO Stewart Kohl. “I love that Riverside is an ideal place for someone to grow their career and find opportunity. Hunter is a great addition, and Meranee and Nick have earned their promotions by doing outstanding work for our investors and living the Riverside brand every day.”
